Accessories
Here are a few items that
you might want to consider as accessories to your Segway:
Accutire MS-4000GB Deluxe Backlit Digital Tire Pressure Gauge This
tire gauge delivers precise tire pressure reading every time--and that's
important. While manual tire gauges seem flimsy, sometimes stick, and
can give inconsistent results, Accutire's digital gauge is a well-made,
confidence-inspiring instrument. Accutire's digital gauge costs more than
a manual gauge, but with its lifetime lithium battery, it's going to last
you a long, long time.
The Reevu bicycle helmet, available through Edinburgh
Bicycle. The Reevu is a cycling helmet which incorporates a polycarbonate
mirror. This mirror is no sticky-out add on, it's incorporated into the
shell of the helmet. Using this rear view mirror quickly become second
nature - just like it does when you're driving.
HOW IT WORKS
Put
simply, the mirror system effectively 'bends' the light around the top
of the head - all within the moulding of the helmet - to provide a clear
view of the road behind. The mirror is manufactured from a reflective
polycarbonate material which is lighter weight than glass and virtually
unbreakable. The helmet itself is manufactured to the highest standards
and passes all the international safety standards. The Reevu's ventilation
system is tribute to the joined-up thinking that went into this helmet
design. The cavity created by the rear view system doubles as a vent that
pulls cool air through and over the top of the head. This helps keep the
head cool and the mind focused on what’s really important –
road safety. The Reevu has a modern cranium-hugging fit system which is
easy to adjust and helps keep the helmet comfortably in place.
If you're looking for saddle-bag type carrying capability, this accessory,
which I call "saddle brackets" are available. For photographs
of the ones I have installed on my Segway, click here,
which also includes information on how to order from the company selling
them. (Note, there are several sizable images on this page, so it
might take awhile to load on dialup.)
So, you want to know how you might transport your Segway with your car,
since you can't lift 83 lbs into a trunk? You have several options! Here
are a few:
For a pick-up, van, or SUV, try the following folks:
- Handiramps - handiramps.com
- Seveal options work well, including the lightweight lawnmover-type
ramp, the lightweight van ramp, but I think, the best solution they
offer is the inexpensive handi-trak ramps, that fold, and are very lightweight.
- Segway Carrier - segwaycarrier.com
- A customized carrier for the Segway, available as both a double, and
a single version.
Other accessories are available at Segway.com.
